Community Benefits Commitments in Contracts

In 2011, our Commission passed a community benefits policy to guide our efforts to be a good neighbor to all whose lives or neighborhoods are directly impacted by our operations, programs, and policies. We define community benefits as those “positive effects on a community that results from the operation and improvement of our water, wastewater, and power services.”

We invite our contractors to adhere to our Community Benefits Policy. We have embedded community benefits criteria into our RFPs over $5 million. Our goal is to identify and lift up contractors with a strong commitment to community benefits and corporate social responsibility.

Through the community benefits program, multinational and local engineering, construction, and architecture firms are providing financial contributions, volunteer hours, and in-kind donations to local schools and nonprofits in the communities where we operate and provide services. The commitments are firm, quantifiable, and measurable and are made throughout the life of the agreements.
