Investing in the Community

Though the Westside of San Francisco only handles approximately 20% of our combined wastewater flows, there is still much work needed to be done on the Westside through the SSIP. Our Oceanside Treatment Plant, built in 1994, is located on the Westside of San Francisco. Many of the pipes and facilities on the Westside are nearing the end of their useful life. To address these issues, the SFPUC has begun the Sewer System Improvement Program (SSIP) to build and upgrade our most important infrastructure.

While we embark on this needed work, we are also investing in green infrastructure and community engagement through the Urban Watershed Assessment on the Westside.
